Get rid of the little things that annoy you
If you are fed up with feeling drained and overwhelmed by all the desires and demands of a busy life, author Bill Ford may just have the answer for you. In his book ‘High Energy Habits’ he looks at getting rid of all the small things that annoy you. Although you might think the small things don’t matter, it is these little things that annoy you, draining you of precious energy that could be used far more effectively elsewhere.
Some things that annoy many people include;

A technique that Bill suggests to combat these little annoyances is “imagining that all the things that need doing around the house have Post-It notes attached to them saying ‘pay me,’ ‘fix me,’ ‘clean me’ etc... These notes also have individual voices saying ‘me, me, me, me!’ Each of these annoyances is really getting on your nerves. You try to get on with watching TV, reading a book or having a cuppa, but some part of you is telling the notes ‘later,’ ‘it’s not important now,’ ‘I’ll deal with it later’ etc... “
“When you live such a busy life, the little things rarely get top priority. Yet you spend so much energy trying to ignore them, reducing the pleasure you get from life and living in the present moment.” Letting the little things get in the way can create a big problem”
Bill suggests the solution lies in the following steps;
1. “Take some time out and make a list of all the little things in your life that are annoying you. Perhaps even make two lists, one for your personal life and one for work. Over time you can add to these lists. You will start to notice more and more things that are not quite the way you want them to be.
2. Pick 2 easy ‘annoyances’ and deal with them today. ‘Easy’ means something that you know all you need to do to fix them, and also won’t take too long. This could be something as simple as replacing a blown light bulb or weeding the garden.”
Don’t stop there keep going choosing two more annoyances to eliminate for another day. Even if you can’t fix your annoyances today, make sure you write them down. Free yourself of the little annoying things
